Hope Street at the top of Mount Street.
We start out looking along Hope Street towards the Metropolitan
(Roman Catholic) cathedral. Pan left, and you're looking down the hill
along Mount St towards the River Mersey. LIPA
and the JMU Art School
come into view - those big windows face north to give a good light for
drawing and painting. There's more Georgian housing on Hope Street before
you get to Blackburne House (behind the trees). A little further on, you
can just about see the 'new' cathedral at the far end of Hope Street.
The 'luggage' lying around on the pavement is an all too rare example
of public sculpture in our city. Can anyone tell me the name of the artist?
I keep forgetting to check. Even if these piles of luggage mean nothing
to you, it's a nice place to sit on a sunny afternoon.
