Canning in 1906

By 1906, Canning was at its peak. Construction of all of the major terraces was complete, and war and neglect had not taken their toll. Work had started on the Anglican Cathedral two years before this map was published, and tram lines can be seen along Catharine Street. The site of the Women's Hospital is shown as a "Female Penitentiary" - sounds grim - and there's an Orphanage next door.
